From One Smart Red Devil To A Tractor Rescue + News To Know From Cincy’s News 5 Today. It’s FRIDAY, 1/27/12 #in

What a morning. Hopefully you were able to watch our live coverage of a partial collapse of the new Cincinnati casino construction site. More than a dozen workers were hurt, though it appears none of the injuries is life-threatening (thank the Good Lord). We’ve been on the air with the latest information and will be back on the air soon with even more. Be sure to watch News 5 at Noon w/ Lisa and the team tonight on News 5 at 5, 5:30, 6 & 11.

Don’t know about you, but I’m happy this week is coming to a close. Just feels like it’s been a bit of a slog, ya’ know?! There was one funny moment from home that I’ve been meaning to mention. It happened Sunday night into Monday morning, during a batch of severe weather. Jesse told me she went to get our son, Thomas, and put him in bed with her to be on the safe side. When she roused him from a deep sleep he asked if it was time to get up. Jess explained that it was just a storm. At that point my little dude – a toy tractor fanatic who had carried a small shoebox filled with mini tractors to bed with him – said with plenty of urgency, “save my tractors!” He was upset that his tractors might be lost to bad weather. Jesse and I are still laughing about it.. A good story for sure.

Random shout out this morning to Morgan Casto, a 10th grade student at my high school alma mater, Russell Independent. I don’t know Morgan, but I’m proud to report that she’s one of 11 KY high school students selected to serve on the first Next-Generation Student Council, formed by the state’s Education Commissioner, Terry Holliday. Making the Red Devils proud!!

Not a huge weekend ahead, but we will be spending some time with friends while we get some help watching the boys. It’s possible a late Friday movie is in my future (lots of movies I’d like to see), but I imagine sleep will win the day ;-)

With all that in mind here’s a quick look at some of the stories we’re following for you both on-air and online at wlwt.com..
