Good Monday morning. Have to make this a fairly quick post. It’s been a hectic morning, though I’m not exactly sure why. Maybe it’s just because it’s Monday. Plus, my head is aching just a bit and that doesn’t help matters any..
Hope your weekend was a good one. What a crazy change in the temperature. After sweltering heat Friday and Saturday a cold front moved in and a nice cool down happened yesterday. I was at a birthday party for my wife’s grandmother, and one of Jesse’s aunts talked about being chilled. I was thinking, ‘Are you crazy?’ but then I realized it was definitely cooler than it had been.
After the party Jesse, Thomas, and I drove home and listened to the Reds’ game. What a finish. Thank good for Drew Stubbs’ big hit in the 10th. What a waste if the game had ended because Francisco Cordero blew the lead the Reds built in the top of the 9th. I’d say CoCo owes Mr. Stubbs a nice big steak dinner.
And how about Brandon Phillips crashing into Washington’s catcher on Saturday night. Boom. The Reds have some fire, that’s for sure!
While I remain just as depressed as you are about what’s happening with the oil leak in the Gulf (and even with the improving news from the weekend it’s still pretty depressing) I was reminded last night about just how incredible the ocean is. I was able to watch a piece Anderson Cooper did for 60 Minutes. In it Cooper swims with great white sharks. Seriously. It’s pretty intense and absolutely fascinating to watch. Hats off to him and to Mr. Sharkman for raising awareness about one of the planet’s most intriguing creatures. Here’s a link if you have a few minutes: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6554450n
I’ll leave you with this staggering update from the AP. Of course, we spent a good chunk of time this morning talking about the deadly tornado that hit the town of Millbury which is not too far from Toledo. Sadly, 7 people died, and the cost in terms of dollars and sense is high. Here’s the latest alert from the AP:
“MILLBURY, Ohio (AP) – Officials say the northwest Ohio tornado
that killed seven people over the weekend left behind at least $100
million in damage.”
All I can think to say is let’s all say a prayer for the people of Millbury. Could have happened anywhere.
Hang in there and stay safe.
